In any situation where women are together, a bond of friendship and sisterhood is really, really important. In a funny way, their bond is very, very strong. And they’re intensely loyal to each other, even though it’s a very broad range of emotions that they live through. First of all, they’re very funny, which women are not supposed to be. And I think these three characters are really, in a strange and odd way, quite positive for women. Things have changed for women, but things have not changed fast enough for women. In this world, there’s so much going on in this world that we never really realized, until maybe the last 25, 30, or 50 years. MIDLER: We talked a lot about sisterhood, and we talked a lot about leaning on each other and counting on each other and having loyalty to each other. None of the original costumes exist anymore.īette and Kathy, after almost 30 years, what do the Sanderson sisters represent to you? There was a lot to pull from the first movie. Okay then.”Īnne, how did you collaborate with costume, hair, and makeup departments to bring the characters to life with updated looks, in comparison to the first film?įLETCHER: Like I would do any movie. And he said, “Because I love Hocus Pocus.” I was like, “All right. And then, finally, I said, “Why did you take this movie without meeting me?” It really was the weirdest thing. ![]() We’re both from Detroit, so we were talking about that stuff. I’m so happy you’re doing this movie.” We were getting to know each other. And here Sam is on set, in his costume, and I’m like, “Nice to meet you. Just FYI, they always wanna meet the director and speak to the director. NAJIMY: This is my fourth or fifth project with Anne, and she’s one of the hugest reasons that we got through this thing. And who doesn’t wanna see Bette Midler sing?
